UM Women to be awarded for serving Austin area
The Austin District United Methodist Women are being honored as one of two recipients of the Austin Area Interreligious Ministries Hope Award at AAIM’s annual celebration and fundraiser April 10. The celebration is to be in Sumners Hall at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
The VIP reception begins at 6 p.m., with music and a silent auction at 6:30. The dinner and award ceremony is to be at 7 p.m.
It is because of the almost 1,900 women who serve so faithfully in the Austin District, living out the vision of their foremothers’ involvement in social action and justice issues while continuing to serve the least of these brothers and sisters in Christ, that this award is being given.
Each UM woman gives out of love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, never seeking recognition for these actions.
The other recipient of this year’s award is Rabbi Steven Folberg and his congregation at Beth Israel in Austin.
Registration for the event is $125 per person, with all funds collected going to support AAIM’s vital programs and presence. Registration is available online at www.aaimaustin.org.
