Austin District receives large donation
earmarked for ministry with, for women

Generous bequest

Great news! The Austin District is the recipient of a gift from the estate of Juanita Peterson. The gift of $260,000 is designated for ministry with and for women.
Peterson was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Women and was a member of Asbury UMC, Aus-tin. Peterson left her home to the Austin District to be sold and the proceeds used to finance ministry for women in the Austin District. Her longtime friend, neighbor and fellow Methodist, Bob Callison, served as her executor.
Callison spent countless hours preparing her home for sale. Our Austin District trustees voted to receive the gift and have set up the Juanita Peterson Fund as a permanent endowment at Texas Methodist Foundation. We will be receiving requests for grants in accordance with Peterson’s wishes.
If you would like to contribute to this fund in accordance with its guidelines, give me a call. The interest only will be used to fund grants, and we welcome gifts to increase the principal.
We celebrate the generosity of Juanita Peterson. She certainly loved the church and the UM Women and put her treasure where her heart was.
You, too, can leave a legacy. Because of Peterson’s generosity, countless women will receive help and ministry in perpetuity. Her example is such an inspiration.
Think about it. The church is of God and will exist until the end of time, and the gates of Hell will not stand against it. Forever is a long time. A spiritually mature person thinks beyond himself or herself. Peterson will continue to serve God through this gift long after her death.
Thank You, Juanita Peterson, for your gift and your inspired example!
