Lay speaking treasurer retires; replacement sought

After several years of dedicated and much appreciated service as the treasurer/registrar of the Austin District Lay Speaking Committee, Elley Morgan of St. Mark’s UMC, Austin, has decided to retire.
Committee members expressed their appreciation for Morgan’s hard work with a plaque, presented to her June 14.
Morgan has agreed to continue as the acting treasurer/registrar until a replacement can be found. She will also be instrumental in training the new treasurer/registrar.
The committee is seeking candidates for the volunteer position. This individual will be required to participate in committee meetings and provide a treasurer’s report at them.
Further responsibilities include, but are not limited to, registering participants at all Austin District lay speaking training seminars; collecting fees from participants; maintaining accurate attendance records on training participants and team members; keeping accurate records of district lay-speaking accounts (including preparation of funds to be turned in to the Austin District treasurer for deposit); and assembling and turning in all receipts to be reimbursed by the church treasurer.
The applicant must possess basic office and accounting skills as well as working knowledge of
Microsoft Excel.
