Kerrville District plans training
for lay speaker at Lakehills UMC
The Kerrville District is offering lay speaker training Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. at Lakehills UMC.
Presenter for the basic course is to be Pam Elliott. Presenter for the refresher course is to be Sam Dubberly.
Cost is $25 per person (includes book and lunch). Payments can be made when you arrive. Please R.S.V.P. to the Kerrville District Office by calling (830) 896-6400.
Registration for the event runs from 8 to 9 a.m. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and extend until lunch. Training begins again at 1 p.m.

Quarterly UM Men meeting
slated for Nov. 17 at Bethany
All men are invited to the Austin District United Methodist Men’s quarterly meeting Nov. 17 at Bethany UMC, Austin.
As part of the group’s goals for growth in all areas of men’s lives, the purpose at this gathering will be men growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The guest speaker is to be the Rev. Sylvester Chase, pastor of Wesley UMC, Austin, and spiritual director of Austin District UM Men.
Enjoy a great time of worship in word and song. Fellowship is a key part of meeting. Renew acquaintances, or make new friends in Christ, and enjoy a wonderful breakfast.

celebration Feb. 23 at Bethany
Plans are well under way for the Austin District’s 2008 My Job Workshop and Laity Celebration Feb. 23 at Bethany UMC, 10010 Anderson Lane, Austin.
To provide the types of workshops that will be beneficial to all who attend, the Board of Laity invites your suggestions and comments on topics and presenters for our upcoming event. First session for My Job Workshop is to run from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Topics to be presented include pastor-parish relations committee, trustees, finance, United Methodist Men, Evangelism I, The Way of the Child, missions, Amos Commission/Respectful Dialogue, choosing curriculum, preschool, junior high class, adult Sunday school class, communications and United Methodist youth.
The second session is to run from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Planned topics include PPRC, young adult class, leadership, Evangelism II, praise worship, older adult ministry, Volunteers in Mission, disaster planning, Amos Commission/Respectful Dialogue, UM Women, congregational care, elementary classes, senior high class, prayer ministry, stewardship and church transformation.
Ballots to be cast Nov. 18
for singles council leadership
Elections for the Austin District Singles Council Leadership Committee are to be Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at First UMC, Austin. Balloting is to be in Room 107 of the Family Life Center on the northwest corner of 13th and Lavaca streets.
