My Job Workshop to offer quality leadership training
My Job Workshop 2008 is scheduled for Jan. 19 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace UMC, 11222 Leopard St., Corpus Christi.
The event is sponsored by the Corpus Christi District and will provide quality leadership
training for the laity.
My Job Workshop offers a prime opportunity for both new and experienced leaders to become better equipped to do the work God has called them to do in their local church. Pastors are encouraged to attend as well. A great lineup of topics and presenters offers something for everyone. Training is provided at no cost to participants.
We will be offering two extended presentations from 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Rev. David A. Seilheimer, Southwest Texas Conference treasurer, is to present an in-depth session on church finance.
This training is a must for finance committee chairs and members, treasurers, and other laity interested in knowing more about church finances or the roles and responsibilities of the finance committee.
The Rev. Barbara J. Ruth, Corpus Christi District superintendent, is to lead a session about the work of the Staff-Parish or Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
A variety of other workshop topics, including “The Role of the Trustees in the
Local Church,” is to be available.
Free childcare is to be available at Grace UMC. Parents must preregister all children by indicating the number of children and their ages on the registration form.
All local churches are encouraged to take advantage of this excellent training opportunity.
My Job Workshop 2008 brochures are to be mailed to pastors, lay leaders and other committee chairs in all local churches by the end of November. Brochures are to include the event schedule, a description of all topics available and a registration form. Preregistration for this free event will ensure
sufficient handout materials.
Registration for the My Job Workshop should be sent to the District Office by mail, fax or e-mail anytime before Jan. 19.
