From church to church, amen?
AMEN to Santa Rosa UMC for faithfully providing transportation to worship and church activities for those who need a ride.
AMEN to First UMC, Lyford, and First UMC, Edcouch, for faithfully giving to support their missionaries.
AMEN to First UMC, Weslaco, for using multi-sensory worship. During the summer, they transformed their sanctuary into an “airplane” for a series of sermons, and just recently they built a waterfall in the sanctuary with real running water for another series of sermons.
AMEN to First UMC, Kingsville, Premont UMC and First UMC, Falfurrias, for their communion ministries to shut-ins. Lay people have been trained to lead this ministry with elements that were consecrated on Sunday morning.
AMEN to First UMC, Donna, for continuing to work on becoming more welcoming. They now provide a visual welcome with updated décor in their parlor and foyer.
AMEN to First UMC, Laredo, and Freer UMC for participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program. The Laredo youth work on Hwy 59, and the Freer adults partner with the Catholic youth to work on Hwy 16.
AMEN to Riviera UMC whose members are involved in the city government and planning. The church will participate in the Riviera Centennial Celebration.
AMEN to First UMC, Edinburg, for tithing their apportionments from the weekly offering.
AMEN to Pharr UMC for launching their Pastoral Partners Program. They plan to divide the congregation into at least six clusters with a pastoral partner assigned to each cluster. The ministry in each cluster will include visits in each home, hospital visits, and visits and sacraments to the homebound.
AMEN to First UMC, La Feria, for hosting a homework party at the church. Twenty-two students came to watch Gone with the Wind for their English assignment.
