From church to church, amen!

AMEN to Trinity UMC, McAllen, for having nine lay speakers for the congregation.
AMEN to San Juan UMC for continuing to reach out to the community. Members play host to traveling mission workers in the church dorms and provide the Methodist Market. Members also reach out to “Mojares Unidas” through their active UM Women and provide a Spanish language service.
AMEN to Zapata UMC for providing welcoming bookmarks and monthly calendars that include a schedule of activities and an open invitation to the community and winter Texans.
AMEN to El Mesias UMC, Laredo, for filling its new building space. The congregation continues to have about 100 in worship.
AMEN to the United Methodist Campus Ministry of the Rio Grande Valley for providing a labyrinth in its building and an invitation to the students of the University of Texas Pan American to come take the “walk of worship.”
AMEN to the pastor of First UMC, Laredo, for contributing articles pertaining to religion to the local newspaper for a weekly column.
AMEN to First UMC, Falfurrias, and First UMC, Premont, for having Eat-In dinners one month—in which food is prepared at the church—and Eat-Out dinners the next month—in which members go to a local cafe to enjoy fellowship while dining. Proceeds from Eat-Ins go toward apportionments.
AMEN to Zapata UMC for meeting the needs of winter Texans in several trailer parks, for having an active jail ministry in which members are challenged to share the gospel with all kinds of people from different places, for having an active prayer ministry in which members and nonmembers alike ask to be added to the prayer list, and for beginning a newsletter to keep the community and members informed of activities.
AMEN to First UMC, McAllen, for its mission service and community involvement. Members traveled to Eagle Pass to do disaster-response work and raised money for missions and disaster relief through the annual “Mulligans for Missions” golf tournament. Members are also providing a grief support group open to the community and are collecting clothes for the Dress for Success program of the Rio Grande Valley.
Do you have an AMEN to share for next month’s edition? If so, contact Mary Howard at (956) 421-3630 or yard23@aol.com.
